High-End Fashion Craft / From Concept To GARMENT
where Design Becomes Form
Layers Clothing explores the space between an idea and the garment it becomes - where design is translated through pattern, proportion, material and construction.
Garment development is at the heart of the studio, alongside custom dressmaking and tailoring for those looking for a garment developed and made specifically for them.
Open Atelier offers a professional shared space to develop your own sewing projects with expert support, while digital sewing patterns make selected Layers designs available to create at home.
Every project is approached as a balance of concept and precision, with equal attention to how a garment is imagined, engineered and ultimately experienced.
What We Do
-
Offers a personalized approach to fashion, allowing individuals to create garments tailored specifically to their measurements, style preferences, and fabric choices. This process ensures a perfect fit and unique design, reflecting the wearer’s personality and needs.
-
Achieves a precise fit and enhances the silhouette. The process involves altering garments through techniques such as hemming, taking in seams, and adjusting shoulders or sleeves to create a piece that complements individual body shapes, reflecting personal style and attention to detail.
-
Creating a tech pack, which includes detailed specifications, measurements, fabric choices, trims, and construction details. Using the tech pack, the initial muslin sample and, after multiple fittings, pre-production sample are developed.
-
Sketching concepts, building mood boards, working on fabric selection, precise pattern-making and assembling the final garment. Multiple fittings ensure the garment meets aesthetic and functional requirements.
-
Ensures your original designs are expertly scaled to a full size range with precision and consistency — maintaining the integrity of the fit, proportion, and style across all sizes. Ideal for both ready-to-wear and custom collections.
-
Realistic virtual garment visualization, enabling accurate fabric simulation and real-time adjustments. It is especially valuable for improving communication between design and production teams, accelerating development timelines, and minimizing material waste.

What will you make next?
From an initial idea to a finished garment, Layers Clothing Atelier is a place to develop, refine and make.
Balancing between masculine tailoring and expressive femininity, the Lavallière Shirt transforms the classic oversized shirt into a contemporary statement piece. The shirt features clean construction and timeless proportions. It will become a versatile wardrobe staple - equally striking in crisp cotton poplin, classic shirting stripes or fluid fabrics that emphasise the movement of the collar ties.
Tie the ribbons into an oversized bow for a sculptural, romantic look, knot them loosely for effortless elegance, or leave them undone for a more relaxed feel. The generous proportions, dropped shoulders and elongated sleeves create an easy, contemporary silhouette that feels equally at home in a tailored wardrobe or layered casually over everyday essentials.
Skill level: Intermediate. Includes traditional shirt sleeve placket, flat-felled seam finishing.
PLEASE, NOTE: This pattern is for personal use only. Unauthorized commercial use, reproduction, or resale is prohibited.
The pattern pack contains files for print, separate pattern file for each size, full technical description, sizing information and step-by-step sewing instructions:
